Welcome to Conscious Curiosity

Hi! I’m Ansley - wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend & above all, one who has always had an insatiable appetite to learn…about the world around us, the God who made it, & how we can thrive within it.

This hunger to learn is a part of my DNA - it’s been there since before I can remember. But as I walked through various seasons of life, particularly young adulthood, then marriage & early motherhood, it cemented as a core part of who I am & who I want to be.

Doing a good bit of (life-changing!) therapy with an incredible therapist in my twenties opened my eyes to so much I didn’t know before - about God’s design of our brains, how our earliest years shape our later relational patterns, about attachment styles & how they can be healed, & about how knowing the landscape of our own interior world can radically change our understanding of ourselves & others.

“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free,” Jesus says in John 8.

YES, we say from deep within. We all want to learn & grow & be our best, most whole selves.

But in today’s world with an overabundance of options, it’s overwhelming to know where to even start…do we just pick up a book? Listen to a podcast? Get a life coach or therapist? Discover what our Enneagram number is or follow a myriad of Instagram accounts & read a bunch of articles? Or all of the above?

And where do we find the time to do this? If you’re a parent or you have a demanding job - or you’re a parent who has a demanding job - you’re already juggling more than you can keep up with in a day.

The list of things you feel like you should be doing or reading to grow as a person, a parent or a spouse keeps getting longer - you feel more & more behind.

Enter overwhelm, analysis paralysis, & back to scrolling social media.

This is where Conscious Curiosity comes in.

on the 1st of each month, you’ll get an email that delivers collected, bite-size insights from leading experts on:

  • relationships (marriage, parenting & adult friendships)

  • faith

  • psychology & relational neuroscience

The goal is that these insights are interesting & useful to you. They’ll skim the surface of a range of topics within each of the 3 categories above, providing a high level overview.

Below will be links to 1-2 online articles (no paywalls!), podcasts and/or books if you want to dive deeper into the topic & that particular expert’s content, along with a note from me about how I apply that knowledge in my everyday life.

On the the 15th of each month, you’ll get a second email that features a quote, question or brief excerpt from a respected thought leader or author (both modern day & historical).

These brief insights will challenge us to think about how we think - moving us out of patterns of rigidity into curiosity.

This email will also include links to articles, podcasts & books if you want to go further with the featured concepts or thought leader.

“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

This is the ultimate heart behind Conscious Curiosity.

In our world where so much competes for our time, attention & headspace, may this space be a source of truth in a manner that feels helpful for the sake of freedom in the places we care about most.

We can never ever know it all, but we can always keep learning. And knowing better means we can do better, especially in our most important relationships: with our spouses, our children, our closest family & friends.

I’ll end with my favorite Mary Oliver line, one that has always sparked wonder & curiosity in me:

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” - Mary Oliver
